The Beach

Le Vieux Port is situated in one of the most popular areas of the Aquitaine, near famous beaches and places such as Vieux Boucau, Biarritz, Hossegor, Capbreton or Dax. The best way to get there is to fly to Biarritz airport and then book an airport transfer with Sea-Lifts.

Younger children will also enjoy the bouncy castle which is available from mid-July and August.

Boasting direct access to the beach, walk through magnificent sand dunes before reaching miles of golden, sandy beach. There is also a tourist train that regularly runs between the beach and the site during the day between mid-July and August. Alternatively, explore the cycle paths, forest and lakes that are all within easy reach of the site.

Le Vieux Port comes alive at night, offering an onsite bar and weekly open-air disco. Alternatively, visit the nearby village of Vieux-Boucau for its selection of shops and bars within 2 kilometres. There are many beaches in Biarritz, many of which offer some world class waves
for surfing. Surfing has been popular in Biarritz since 1957 and it has become one of
the surfing hubs of Europe. The main beaches are as follows starting at the South: Ilbiarritz, Milady, Marbella, Plage de Cote Basque, Vieux Port, Grande Plage, Miramar.

When you head north of the lighthouse (Biarritz le Phare), the coastline changes dramatically. From the rocky points of Biarritz to the wide straight beaches of ‘La Chambre d’Amour’ and the many beaches of Anglet. From here the beach stretches north almost unbroken, through Hossegor and Les Landes for 200km until Archachon near Bordeaux

The park has direct access to a beach which is ideal for surfing and bodyboarding, and there are surfing lessons organised in July and August.

How to get there

The closest airport to Camping Le Vieux Port is Biarritz Airport (BIQ). The transfer time is 1h20mins depending on traffic. With us you can book a private car, taxi, minibus, limousine or even a coach if you are travelling in a large group.

If flights to Biarritz don’t work for you, then you might want to look at Bordeaux Airport (BOD). An airport transfer from Bordeaux Airport to Le Vieux Port Messanges takes around 2 hours.

You might also consider flying into Pau Airport, Lourdes Airport or Toulouse Airport.
