Abu Galawa
Just south of El Gouna, heading towards Hurghada lies Abu Galawa. Abu Galawa roughly translates to sweet father, which is the name that it was given by fisherman as it provides a safe spot with surrounding rough seas. Abu Galawa is home to several brilliant dive sites, including; Marsa Abu Galawa, Sacqua Abu Galawa, Shaabaha and Anchor.
Abu Nugar
Abu Negar is a name which has been given to this reef, which means the father of the holes. The name has been given referring to the holes in the main reef. There are many brilliant dive sites around this area, which lies a short distance away from El Gouna. The dive sites include; Erg Abu Nugar and Gotta Abu Nugar North.
Careless Reef
This reef is unprotected in bad weather and it is the furthest dive site to the south of El Gouna. The dive site consists of 2 pinnacles, which stand on a flat surface starting at 10m. When you dive here, there is a brilliant chance to see all types of marine life on the pinnacles. Some days you can even be lucky enough to spot reef sharks!
Shaab El Erg
The name Shaab El Erg means the corals and the pinnacles. This reef stretches over 5km in a horseshoe shape and lies directly east from El Gouna. You have an excellent chance of spotting Bottlenose Dolphins when you dive here as the lagoon behind the reef is where they call home, offering one of the best chances to see them in the world. There are plenty of dives here, with the most common being; Dolphin House, Poseidon Garden and Manta Point.
