Airport information
Porto airport is situated just 10km outside the centre of Porto. The airport was constructed in the 1940s and was originally named Pedras Rubras Airport, but was renamed in 1980 after the former Portuguese Prime Minister, Franciso de Sa Carneiro who died in a plane crash on his way to the airport.
It is now a modern airport, thanks to several refurbishments, many of which were carried out prior to Euro 2004, when Porto hosted a number of the football matches.
The check in area is located on the top floor, along with several places to get food & drink, a currency exchange, bank and a pharmacy. The boarding gates are found on the second floor as well as a selection of shops. The arrivals hall and baggage claim are located on the ground floor of the airport.
