New Airports for Sea-Lifts in 2017

Italy

Don’t tell the Italians, but Italy is definitely all it’s cracked up to be. From toe to heel it kicks the competition out of the water. Italy holiday destinations include Roman history, Renaissance art, modern romance and delicious food to die for. It’s not all art galleries and espresso though. Away from the cities, Belpaese – as the Italians call it – is the Beautiful Country. With outstanding scenery, no one region is the same. From a walking holiday in Italy, exploring the Apuane Alps in Tuscany to experiencing the breathtaking coastal villages this country has astonishing variety to entertain you on a short adventure holiday, or for the rest of your life!

To ensure we give our clients access to all that Italy has to offer we offer airport transfers to seven new Italian airports this summer, including both the mainland and the island of Sardinia and Sicily.

Spain

Spain offers a great deal more than your typical package holiday in the sun. Its rugged, outdoors appeal is a big draw for active holiday makers – enjoy scenic walking and challenging cycling through some stunning landscapes. Spain has carved out a unique identity for itself. It mixes Moorish magic with Spanish splendour, stunning interior landscapes with old-world majesty. If you had to sum up the national psyche in one word it would be passion – a constant thread through all things Spanish. Whether it’s the food, the wine or the small matter of supporting Barca or Real.

With a landscape full of secluded valleys, stunning sierras, and scorching coastline no one region of Spain is quite the same. For all that Spain is a hugely popular holiday destination, you can still find yourself lost in the interior heartlands and not hear another English accent for weeks on end. New Spanish destinations for Sea-Lifts in 2017 are:

 France

There are a wide range of adventure, activity, walking, trekking, cycling and winter holiday options available in France. France is the most popular holiday destination for UK residents. Its proximity helps, but the huge diversity of attractions gives France a very wide appeal. Holidays in France range from walking in the Alps, trekking in the Pyrenees, inn to inn travel (either by foot or by bike), cycling in the Loire valley,  walking in Burgundy and the classic Tour du Mont Blanc. Whichever activity you choose, there is always fine food and wine in most areas of the country.

New airport transfer options for 2017 are:

  •  Avignon
  • Marseille
  • Cannes
  • La Rochelle
  • Bergerac
  • Nantes
  • Nimes

 Portugal

Portugal holidays might start with a coast offering some of the world’s finest surf (Peniche and Nazare are globally renowned), along with zippy sailing off windswept dunes or secluded coves, plus sea kayaking around spectacular nature-filled national parks. Hiker and bikers can dive into dark woods and majestic peaks amid mountains where eagles ride the thermals. Here too, are places to canyon and climb amid roaring cascades, or canoe down rushing streams.

We now offer the two key airports:

Cyprus

Inhabited since ancient times, the island of Cyprus is shrouded in myth and mystery. Famed as the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, it remains a special favourite with lovers and newly-weds.

Golden beaches drenched in amber sunsets, candle-lit tavernas thronging with traditional music and dance, luxury spas where guests can indulge every whim, and elegant boutique hotels that compete with the world’s best for style, comfort, and luxury – these are just some of the island’s alluring settings. We have added two new airports:

  • Paphos
  • Larnaca

Northern Cyprus

North Cyprus remains a hidden gem of the Mediterranean, far less visited since separation in 1974 but, thanks to the abundance of archaeological remains from many civilisations that inhabited the island over the centuries, it is considered the most beautiful and historically interesting part of the island.

With superb walking through unspoiled areas teeming with flowers and wildlife, and the relaxed local Turkish Cypriot culture, this is a walking and sightseeing tour not to be missed. We now offer Ercan International Airport.

Whilst we have a comprehensive coverage around Europe, we appreciate that it is not complete. As experts in airport transfers we are very confident that we can do a great job for you anywhere you may need a transfer. New Destinations for Sea-Lifts

Faro Airport

Portugal’s Algarve coast is home to some of Europe’s best golf courses, beaches and cycling routes. Sea-Lifts is experienced in the provision of cycling and golf tour transport and would be delighted to welcome our clients with a Faro airport transfer. Most Faro airport transfers, or taxis, to the more popular resorts take less than one hour. During July and August routes to popular resorts can take a bit longer and as demand is high, we advise booking early to avoid missing out.

Sea-Lifts also offer Porto Airport Transfers.

Olbia Airport

Sardinia, with its quintessential Mediterranean beauty, is mainly loved for swimming, boating, windsurfing, hiking, climbing, and camping, with coastal areas busy especially in the warmest month, August. Cycling is also becoming popular, especially after the Island was used for the start of the 100th edition of the Giro d’Italia road cycling race. The inner life of the island away from the tourist spots takes longer to appreciate and requires you to peel away the layers to get to the authentic Sardinia. Each September the Sardinia Cup sailing regatta is held off the coast. Polo matches are held between April and October at Gershan near Arzachena. Other attractions include a film festival in Tavolara and a vintage car rally.

Olbia Airport is the second busiest airport in Sardinia and is the gateway to the Costa Smeralda and the main hub of Meridiana Fly. The Costa Smeralda begins about 12km north of Olbia and is defined as the 10km strip between the gulfs of Cugnana and Arzachena.

In Sardinia, Sea-Lifts also offer Cagliari Airport Transfers.

Paris Airport

Paris, the cosmopolitan capital of France has 2.2 million people living in the dense, central city and almost 12 million people living in the whole metropolitan area. Located in the north of France on the river Seine, Paris has the well-deserved reputation of being the most beautiful and romantic of all cities, brimming with historic associations and remaining vastly influential in the realms of culture, art, fashion, food and design. For cyclists, the Champs-Élysées is the site of an annual July pilgrimage for the climax of the epic Tour de France.

Bologna Airport

Bologna is a historical city, with around 380,000 inhabitants. Although it is well known by Italians, it is less so among foreign visitors. Little English is spoken by its residents. It is the capital and largest city of Emilia-Romagna (a region in northern Italy). Bologna is famed for having the oldest university in the Western world, a lively student population, exquisite food, typical brick terracotta-roofed architecture and porticos, theatre and nightlife.

Florence

Tuscany is home to some of the most beautiful cities and countryside in Europe. Florence is one of the most visited destinations in the region and most transfers to the popular destinations around Florence take from thirty minute to one and half hours. During July and August routes to some attractions can take a bit longer due to the number of other visitors during the summer holidays.

Visitez La France!

France is the world’s top tourist destination with over 83 million visitors each year.

From glorious sandy beaches and world class surf spots to Alpine mountains, châteaux and vineyards to urban metropolises we can see why!

I think you can safely say France has something to offer everyone.

French Riviera

The French Riviera is the Mediterranean coastline which starts in the east, where the Alps meet the Mediterranean, finishing in Cassis in the West.

The French know the region as La Cote D’Azur after the poet Stephen Liegeard publish a book called La Cote d’Azur in 1887.

The beautiful beaches and coastline inspired generations of artists from Picasso to Matisse.  More recently the glamorous coastline has attracted celebrities, the likes of Elton John and Bono both owning properties along the coastline.

The mountains help shelter the area from the winds resulting in an early spring and a very mild autumn making it a great place to visit as late as October.

Don’t let the crowded beaches in Peak-season deter you; there are plenty of reasons to go to the Riviera.  We’ve listed a few interesting facts below:

300 days of sunshine. It is the sunniest region in France with 300 days of sunshine a year.

115km of coastline and beaches

The Riviera holds 50% of the world’s super yachts with 90% of all super yachts visiting the region’s coastline at some point.

19 golf courses

3000 restaurants

Billionaires – the region is the playground of the rich and famous.
The per-capita population of billionaires is among the highest on the planet with Monaco at number one with 335,427 people.

Monaco – is this 2nd smallest city in the world.  The world famous casino (pictured below) was built in 1863.  However, the citizens of Monaco are forbidden to enter!

It takes up to 660 Roses to produce 1 bottle of perfume.  The town of Grasse is just 15km away from Cannes and is the Perfume Capital of the World.

If you’re travelling around the Riviera we can offer you stress free reliable transfers.

Summer is Here!!

June might nearly be over but with temperatures reaching highs of 34 across parts of France today we feel confident saying summer and summer holidays might finally be here!! And we’re welcoming it with open arms.

The Euros are well underway.  With Northern Ireland to meet the host nation, France, on Sunday in Lyon and England facing Iceland on Monday in Nice we’re looking forward to watching some great matches with a cold beverage..or two.  Maybe the English will be celebrating a win walking down the famous Promenade des Anglais come Monday night.

Being Brits our thoughts, naturally, are falling to the weather.  The forecast so far is looking great:

Must see tourist attractions in the South of France

The South is a great holiday spot, not only because you’ ll be able to gorge on tasty cheeses, delicious wines and enjoy a Mediterranean climate (what more would expect from France of course…!) But because there are plenty of great sights and sounds to be seen.
Amazingly there are Over 40 UNESCO World Heritage sites listed in Aquitaine, Midi Pyrenes and Languedoc-Rouyssilon regions, but it’s not all Cathedrals and Chateaux’s – in addition to these delights you’ll find plenty more to explore….

Gorges du Verdon

This breath taking river canyon has been referred to as Frances answer to the Grand Canyon. At 25km long and 700 metres deep its picturesque turquoise water attracts plenty of tourists. At the end of the canyon the river joins the Saint Croix du Verdon lake. And there’s lots to do here, hire a kayak to explore, white water raft, water ski, fish, horse ride, hike –you name it! The area is also well known for its rock climbing.
Transfers from Nice

La Dune du Pyla

It’s a bit of a hike to the top, but worth the view. This sand dune is  the biggest in Europe stretching 2,700m and 108m high! But when you do reach the top you’ll get a view of Archachon town, the Les Landes forest and of course the Atlantic Ocean. At the bottom there’s plenty of cafes for a rest- you’ll need it! The photo alone sells it to us.
Transfer to Arcachon from Bordeaux Airport

Avignon – Le Palais des Papes

Located in the centre of Provenca, Le Palais des Papes is Europes biggest Gothic Palace. It has plenty of open rooms giving visitors an insight into the historic events that went on there, in addition to works of art and other events that change thoughout the year –it is currently stage to the Avignon Thetre Festival. Four  impressive towers and ajoined to the Pont Saint Benezet bridge you can take in plently of culure at this truly special place.

Nimes Amphitheatre

An incredible sight, believe it or not you are in France not Italy, but this city is closely linked to its Roman past. Scattered with roman monuments including the Maison Carrée and the temple of Diana. In Nimes you will find yourself in winding streets hiding unusual  boutiques and art galleries. We recommend taking a tour to get the most out of the history.
Fly to Montpellier and Transfer to Nimes

Carcassonne Castle

Carcassonne is famous for its medieval walled city. ‘Cite de Carcassonne’ is another UNESCO World Heritage Site in the South of France. Its of very impressive size and stature. Surrounded by the Canal Du Midi you will get a real taste of medieval France on your visit here, plus with free admission you’ve got more money to spend the artisanal shop and lunch why not try the regional delicacy –casoulette. Yum..

Bordeaux – Mirror Lake at Place de la Bourse

There is more to Bordeaux that great wines (although we would highly recommend a tasting on your visit!) The mirror lake or Miroir D’eau is a feast for the eyes and is even better at night time where the stunning reflection of the Place de la Bourse comes to life. Its made from granite slabs and 2cm of water that acts as a mirror and even turns into a cloud of mist making for some fantastic photo opportunities, not to be missed if you are in Bordeaux.
