Dive Sites near Soma Bay
Ras Abu Soma
This dive is located in the northern promontory of Soma Bay. The excitement of this dive can begin from the very moment you descend, people often find themselves right in the middle of a shoal of Redtooth Triggerfish! Our top tip is to follow the tracks in the sand if you see any, it will lead you to a venomous buried cone shell, more than likely hiding from Triggerfish.
Some Bay – Breakers House Reef North
If you turn left off the jetty of Breakers Hotel, you will find yourself in a stunning hard coral garden, with a dashing of blue, green, yellow and brown all around you. If you’re lucky, you might see the giant barracuda which plays dead over the coral reef, close to the surface. We would recommend a night dive when the stars and moon are shining brightly.
Gamul Soraya
This is a stunning dive which will leave you wanting more. It’s only a small reef, but you know what they say, good things come in small packages. The reef itself is covered in Acropora and many other types of coral. We’d recommend a morning dive, which would give you the best chance of seeing tiger flatworm, with their striking yellow patterned bodies.
Middle Reef
Middle Reef is a very highly rated dive from everyone who takes the plunge. The scenery is stunning and the dive is as exciting as they come. When you dive from the north side of the reef to the south side, we would seriously recommend taking a look at the drop-off. In order to avoid following the reef way out to sea, ascend to 12m, then head over the best coral garden around.
