Praia da Cordoama
A great surf spot in the autumn months, Praia da Cordama is an exposed beach break that produces reliable surf. With good surf at all stages of the tide, it is best when the swell angle is from the northwest and offers both lefts and rights.
Arrifana
A consistent surf spot that can work at any time of year, Arrifana is a great beginner or intermediate beach and reef break. Best when the winds are from the northeast with swells from the northwest, it offers great surf at all stages of the tide. Offering left and rights off the beach break and a right-handed reef break, Arrifana is a popular spot that can become crowded.
Zavial
A great stop for winter surfing holidays, Zavial is an exposed beach break that is rarely crowded. Best around mid-tide when the winds are from the northwest and the swell is from the south-southwest, Featuring powerful rips, the waves at this beach break are both left and right.

When is the best time to surf in Sagres
Boasting the warmest sea water in the country, Sagres is a year-round surf holiday destination. Featuring 50km of protected beaches, this area offers surfing opportunities that are never overcrowded.
Beginners are best suited to the surf conditions in Sagres during May, June, September and October. During this period, waves are generally easy to surf, with the swell mellowing and less intimidating than during the winter months. They also benefit from the excellent weather conditions during the summer months, when it is warm enough to surf in a shortie and doesn’t get dark until 10 pm.
Those with an intermediate level of surfing ability will be suited to the surf conditions in Sagres all year-round. Although May and September generally produce the best waves, any month should have accessible waves.
Advanced surfers will find the surf conditions in Sagres between October and March. During this period, the summer crowds have reduced, and the waves become much more powerful, providing a more challenging surfing experience.
